Jan Trøjborg

January Trøjborg ( born December 14, 1955 in Horsens, † 6, 2012 in Aarhus ) was a Danish politician ( Socialdemokraterne ), who successively headed six different ministries in Denmark in the period from 1993 to 2001.

Life

Trøjborg ended in 1976 trained as a bricklayer and graduated in 1986 with a degree as a civil and environmental engineering.

His political career began in Vejle Amt as chairman of the Danish Social Democratic Youth, 1973 until 1978. Afterwards he was represented until 1986 the city council of Horsens and from 1987 to 2005 member of the Folketing, the Danish parliament. In various governments, he assumed responsibility as Minister of Industry ( 1993-94 ), as Minister of Transport ( 1994-96 ), as Minister of Trade and Industry (1996-98 ), as Federal Minister (1998-99 ), as Minister for Overseas Development (1999-2000 ) and as Secretary of Defense (2000-2001). In 2005 he gave up his seat in the Folketing and returned to his hometown of Horsens, where he was until his death as mayor of Horsens municipality and from 2010 as chairman of the Kommunernes Landsforening, an interest organization Danish municipalities, works.

Trøjborg collapsed on May 6, 2012 during a training ride, the 2012 took place in the context of the Giro d' Italia in Horsens together with other members of the City Council. He died the same day in the Aarhus University Hospital Skejby, at the age of 56 years.
