Jana Gantnerová-Šoltýsová

Jana Gantnerová - Šoltýsová ( born September 30, 1959 in Kežmarok ) is a former Czechoslovak skier. Together with Olga Charvátová formed Jana Gantnerová - Šoltýsová the successful alpine ski team in Czechoslovakia in the late 1970s and into the 1980s. Her daughter Jana Gantnerová was also a ski racer.

Career

Gantnerová - Šoltýsová took first time in 1976 at the Olympic Winter Games and won at the Junior European Championships 1977 in Kranjska Gora the gold medal in the giant slalom before Charvátová. In the World Cup she made in 1975 as a 16- year-old with a sixth place in the slalom in Cortina d' Ampezzo attention. But only with the specialization to Abfahrerin she was able to establish itself in the absolute world top. She reached in December 1979, two podiums in Piancavallo and Zell am See and celebrated on December 17, 1980 in Departure from Altenmarkt their only World Cup victory. At the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, she was ten and at the 1984 Winter Olympics fifth in the downhill. At the World Championships, which were not held in the Olympic Games, was a 15th place in the combination in 1982 their best result. 1985 joined Gantnerová - Šoltýsová back from active skiing.
