Janez Jazbec

Janez Jazbec (* 27 December 1984 in Kranj ) is a Slovenian alpine skier. His strongest discipline of giant slalom.

Biography

Jazbec denied his first FIS race in November 1999, the first victory was followed in March 2004. Between 2002 and 2004 he took part in three World Junior Championships, with his best result of 20th place in the Super G in Maribor in 2004.

In the European Cup Jazbec is since December 2003, mainly in the giant slalom and slalom races at the start. End of November 2006 continued the Slovene in the first giant slalom in Levi for the first time in the top ten, but two weeks later he had to finish the season due to injury. In the following winter he had to pause for a long time and was only able to race again in March. In the European Cup 2008/09 season he achieved four top 10 places to tenth place in the giant slalom standings. On 2 December 2009 he achieved third place in the giant slalom in Val Thorens, the first podium finish.

In addition to the European Cup races Jazbec also comes sporadically since December 2004 in the giant slalom at the World Cup for use. In his seventh World Cup races, the giant slalom in Val d'Isere on 13 December 2009, he clinched third place, 21 the first World Cup points. Since then he has often used in the World Cup, but could during the next two years to score a second time. At the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver in 2010 - his first and only major event - he reached the 19th place in the giant slalom.

On January 15, 2012 Jazbec celebrated his first European Cup victory in the giant slalom in Méribel. A month later he was able to score for the second time in the World Cup, where he in the giant slalom in Bansko reached his best ever World Cup result with the 18th Place.
