Janne Grönvall

Janne Grönvall (born 17 July 1973 in Rauma ) is a retired Finnish professional ice hockey player and current coach.

Career

Janne Grönvall began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior level of Lukko Rauma, for the first team he gave his debut in the 1989/90 season in the SM- liiga, where he remained point and impunity in five games. In the following season, his first full in professional hockey, the defender scored two goals in 40 games and made eight assists, and he received the award of Rookie of the Year. In the summer of 1992, the youth international joined Lukkos League rivals Tappara Tampere, for he stood in the following two years on the ice before he was ordered late in the season 1993/94 of the Toronto Maple Leafs to North America, which it previously had selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1992 in the fifth round as a total 101 players. In his two years, also in Toronto franchise he ran but only for the farm team of the American Hockey League, the St. John 's Maple Leafs on.

In summer 1996 Grönvall returned to his Finnish homeland, where he spent the next seven seasons with his former club Tappara Tampere. With Tappara the links Sagittarius won in the 2002/03 season for the first time the Finnish championship, after he had failed in the two years each with his team in the playoff finals. After this success, he signed with Färjestad BK of the Swedish Elitserien, with whom he twice was runner-up in two seasons. Inferiority was the Finn with his team the HV71, and subsequently to the Frölunda HC. He then returned for the third time in Tampere Tappara, where he played until 2009. For the 2009/10 season, he was obliged by the Krefeld Penguins of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga. In 45 games, he prepared seven goals for Krefeld. Then he ended his active career.

Since the season 2011/12 Grönvall is an assistant coach at the U20 Junior Tappara of Tampere.

Internationally

For Finland Grönvall participated in the Junior World Championship in 1991, 1992 and 1993, and the 2001 World Championships in part.
