Janov (Děčín District)

Janov ( German Jonsdorf ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located ten kilometers north east of the center of Decin in rechtselbischen part of the Bohemian Switzerland and belongs to Okres Decin. The village consists of 226 houses.

Geography

Janov is located above the Edmundsklamm in the northwest of the bins villages plateau. South of the site is bounded by the valley of the creek Janovický.

Neighboring towns are Mezná in the northeast, Hájenky in the east, in the southeast Růžová, Arnoltice in the south, Labe Stráň in the southwest and Hřensko in the northwest.

History

Jonsdorf originated in the colonization of the forests of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains and to have been founded in 1304 by Benedict of Michel mountain. First mentioned was related to the rule Scharfstein place in 1410 in the city Kamnitzer book. Among the gentlemen of Salhausen the place came to power in 1562 Binsdorf. 1583 was Jonsdorf that was gepfarrt by Arnsdorf has always been, of 16 houses.

Subsequent owners were the Wartenberg and 1612 came to the place under the Count Kinsky to rule Kamnitz. After the assassination of Wilhelm Graf Kinsky whose goods were confiscated and given in 1634 by Emperor Ferdinand II Field Marshal Johann von Aldringens.

In the Berni rula Jonasderfl is mentioned as a village consisting of 37 houses, of which eleven peasant farms, two gardeners and 24 smallholdings. Among the Count Clary Aldringens recatholicisation was enforced in 1669 and emigrated to Saxony from 50 Protestant inhabitants.

Until 1833 Jonsdorf had grown to 139 stores and had 852 inhabitants. Until the replacement of patrimonial regimes in 1848 Jonsdorf was to rule Binsdorf belonging and then became an independent municipality.
