Jay Howard

Jay Howard ( born February 16, 1981 in Basildon ) is a British racing driver. He became in 2006 master of the Indy Pro Series. From 2008 to 2011, he stepped up to the individual to race in the IndyCar Series.

Career

Like most racers began his career in karting Howard, in which he was active from 1993 to 2002. Later he returned to individual races back in karting. After he had made in 2002 in the British Formula Ford Winter Series his first experience in Formula racing, he also competed in the British Formula Ford Junior Championship and was 16th in the overall standings. The following winter, the Briton won his first championship with the championship title of the British Formula Renault Winter Series. Subsequently, he was fourth in the 2003 British Formula Ford Scholarship Class

2004 Howard left Europe and moved to North America in the U.S. Formula Ford, in which he took up to two races and one of them decided for themselves. In 2005 he played the entire season in the U.S. Formula Ford and won with nine victories in twelve races the championship. In 2005 he moved to the Indy Pro Series at Sam Schmidt Motorsports. The Briton won in two races and won the championship title with a narrow lead before Jonathan Klein. In 2007 he participated only in the first three races in the Indy Pro Series, finishing the season 28th overall.

2008 Howard was committed by Roth Racing for the IndyCar Series, and had to bring for his commitment no sponsorship money. However, he was replaced after four races by John Andretti. Later in the season he was allowed to participate in another race. In the championship, he finished 28th place. In 2009 he returned to the Indy Pro Series, which was now renamed Indy Lights back. For the new team starting PBIR was a fourth place his best finish. After five races, he was replaced by Pablo Donoso and Richard Philippe, both of which had more sponsorship money, and finished at the end of the season 21 overall. In 2010 he took starting for Sarah Fisher Racing part in five races of the IndyCar Series. He even could not qualify and could not for the other races to the finish. At the end of the season, he finished 31st overall. In 2011, Howard for Sam Schmidt Motorsports to race some part. He was 40th in the overall standings.
