Jean -Alain Boumsong Somkong ( born December 14, 1979 in Douala, Cameroon ) is a Cameroonian - French footballer.

Because of its powerful stature (1.90 m tall, 88 kg in weight ) of the central defender is also called " The Bear ", but he is very fast and takes up considerably.

Career

In the club

The two-footed Boumsong began his career at U.S. Palaiseau, for which he played from 1995 to 1997. He then went on to 2000 for Le Havre AC, before moving to Auxerre. His next stop was then 2004, the Glasgow Rangers. Although Boumsong had signed in Glasgow for five years, he moved in January 2005 Newcastle United, where he received a five and a half -year contract.

Due to many mistakes in the dress of the Magpies, he joined in the summer of 2006 for 4.8 million euros from Newcastle to Italian giants Juventus, who were relegated forced to Serie B due to the manipulation scandal in 2005/ 06. In the National Team

Boumsong took in 2002 at the U-21 European Championship in Switzerland, where he failed with France in the final of the Czech Republic. The defender has been used four times.

Previously, Jean- Alain Boumsong completed 24 caps for France, scoring once. He made his debut on 20 June 2003 against Japan. He belonged to the French squad of Euro 2004, but came to no use.

In the 2006 World Cup Boumsong was also in the squad, came again to no use. Nevertheless, he was vice-champion with France. Subsequently, he completed two qualifying matches for the European Championship in 2008 and was called by coach Raymond Domenech in the French squad for the tournament. He came off the bench in the decisive group match against Italy after the red card by Éric Abidal for the previously substitute Samir Nasri in the 26th minute for tactical reasons.
