Jean Chabbert

Jean- Berchmans -Marcel- Yves -Marie- Bernard Chabbert OFM ( born December 31, 1920 in Castres, Tarn, France) is a retired Bishop of Perpignan - Elne.

Life

Chabbert joined the Congregation of the Franciscan and received on 29 June 1947, the ordination.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him on 12 April 1967 Titular Archbishop of Quaestoriana and Koadjutorerzbischof of Rabat.

The Archbishop of Toulouse, Jean - Louis Cardinal Guyot, donated to him on July 7 of that year, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were Pierre -Marie -Joseph Puech, Bishop of Carcassonne, and Barthélemy- Pierre -Joseph -Marie -Henri Hanrion OFM, Bishop of Dapaong. After the death of Louis -François- Bienaimé - Amedée Lefèbvre SDB he followed him on July 17, 1982 by the Archbishop of Rabat.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on July 17, 1982 Bishop of Perpignan - Elne and gave him the title of Archbishop ad personam.

On 16 January 1996, John Paul II took his on the grounds of age pre- mounted resignation.
