Louis-Jean Guyot

Louis -Jean Frédéric Guyot Cardinal (* July 7, 1905 in Bordeaux, France; † August 1, 1988 ibid ) was Archbishop of Toulouse.

Life

Louis -Jean Guyot studied in Bordeaux and Rome, the subjects Catholic theology and philosophy. He received on 29 June 1932, the sacrament of Holy Orders, and then worked as a pastor in various parishes of the diocese of Bordeaux. He was particularly involved in the youth ministry and founded a seminary for late vocations. From 1944 to 1949 he served as Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Bordeaux management.

Pope Pius XII. 1949 appointed him titular bishop of Helenopolis in Palestine and the Coadjutor Bishop in the Diocese of Coutances. He received his episcopal consecration on May 4, 1949, the then Archbishop of Bordeaux and later Cardinal Maurice Feltin.

In 1950, Guyot Bishop of Coutances. Louis -Jean Guyot participated in the years 1962-1965 at the Second Vatican Council. Pope Paul VI. conferred on him in 1966 the management of the Archdiocese of Toulouse and took him on March 5, 1973 as a cardinal priest with the titular church of S. Agnese fuori le mura in the College of Cardinals to. Cardinal Guyot took part in the August- and Oktoberkonklave 1978.

Pope John Paul II adopted on 16 November 1978 his resignation. Louis -Jean Guyot Cardinal died on 1 August 1988 in Bordeaux and was buried in the cathedral of Toulouse.
