The St. Mary and St. Adalbert consecrated monastery Jędrzejów ( Andreovia ) is a Cistercian abbey in Poland. It is located in the city Jędrzejów in the Province of the Holy Cross ( świętokrzyskie ), 38 km southwest of Kielce.

History

The monastery was founded in 1140 by Janik, later Bishop of Breslau and Archbishop of Gniezno, for Cistercian monks from Mori Moon and settled in 1149. It was the twenty-first daughter of primary Abbey Mori Moon. From Jędrzejów Szczyrzyc monastery and convent Rudy ( Rudy ) were founded. 1819 the monastery was dissolved. 1865-1875 lived there Franciscan monks. 1945 returned to the Cistercians.

Buildings and plant

The church was built with the involvement of parts of a Romanesque church in the west wall in the first quarter of the 12th century. She is a pillar basilica with nave and transept vierjochigem, on whose arms, two on each side chapels (see Monastery Sulejow ). It was changed several times, so in the second half of the 15th century and the Baroque 1728-1730, 1732-1742 and 1751-1754. Here in the east (!) Blend a facade and towers were added. Pews, pulpit, organ and altar date from the late Baroque. A side chapel contains the relics of Wincenty Kadłubek.

The exam is to the right of the church. The monastery buildings were partially removed in the early 20th century.
