Jens Toornstra ( born January 1, 1989 in Alphen aan den Rijn ) is a Dutch football player who is under contract with FC Utrecht since February 2013.

Career

Association

Toornstra played for the Dutch amateur club Alphense Boys in the " Tweede Klasse C". In his last season for this club, he scored twenty goals. The first division club ADO Den Haag became aware of him through his impressive performances. First, the Scouts from Den Haag did not believe that Toornstra could become a regular in the first team, so he was first committed to the reserve team.

In summer 2009, then he moved to The Hague; He signed a contract until 2012. On 12 February 2010 he came to his hoped-for pro debut against Willem II Tilburg. He quickly became the key players and thus Premier League rivals as AZ Alkmaar, FC Twente and Roda JC Kerkrade expressed interest in the young midfielder. But Toornstra decided to continue for ADO and extended on July 4, his contract until 2014.
