Jernej Koblar

Jernej Koblar ( born September 30, 1971 in Jesenice ) is a former Slovenian skier. He started in all disciplines, he achieved his greatest success in the Super -G.

Career

Koblar began his career with inserts in FIS races and in the European Cup. First major successes achieved from Slovenia in the European Cup in the 1993/94 season in which he finished second in the super -G standings.

His first points in the World Cup won Koblar on 18 December 1994 ranked 25th in the giant slalom in Val d'Isere, in February 1996, he came in the Super G in Garmisch -Partenkirchen for the first time into the top 15, the best World Cup result of his career reached Koblar on 11 March 1999 with eighth place in the Super- G in the Sierra Nevada, a second top-10 result he achieved with tenth place in the Super G in Garmisch -Partenkirchen January 28, 2001. His last World Cup race was the giant slalom Soelden on October 26, 2003. Overall, the Slovene came in 42 World Cup races in the top 30

Koblar started in the Olympic Winter Games in 1994, 1998 and 2002 and was there several times best Slovene. He participated in four World Championships, the World Championships in Sestriere in 1997 was his most successful. As each best Slovene he reached the tenth place in the combination, the 14th place in the giant slalom and 16th place in the Super -G. From 1996 to 2002, he won six league titles in Slovenia.

In January 2004 Koblar ended his career. He is married to the former biathlete Andreja Koblar.
