Jeroen Blijlevens

Jeroen Blijlevens ( born December 29, 1971 in Rijen, Netherlands ) is a former Dutch cyclist.

Career

Blijlevens 1994 pro in years. The Dutchman won mostly in the sprint a total of 74 races, including stages in the three Grand Tours Giro d' Italia, Tour de France and Vuelta a España. An infamous highlight of his career was the final stage of the Tour de France 2000. According to the finish line he fell with Bobby Julich, whom he accused of having hindered him in a mass sprint, in a dispute. First, the dispute was purely verbal, but finally struck Blijlevens fist into Julichs face. Due to this action, he was disqualified.

His career ended Blijlevens on 22 April 2004. Afterwards he worked as co-commentator for the Dutch division of the sports channel Euro Sport. Since 2010 he has been manager of the women's cycling teams Nederland bloeit.

Doping

Blijlevens the Anti- Doping Commission of the French Senate was in an investigative report accused in July 2013, to include around 60 riders, which based on retests from 2004 Doping with the formation of blood hormone erythropoietin (short: EPO) at the 1998 Tour de France could be detected.
