Jerry de Jong

Jerry Murrien de Jong ( born August 29, 1964 in Paramaribo ) is a former Surinamese - Dutch footballer. He was active for PSV Eindhoven, FC Groningen and MVV Maastricht in the Eredivisie and for SM Caen in the French Division 1; three times he was employed in the Dutch national team. His son Nigel is also national football team.

Jerry de Jong began at SDW in Amsterdam, to play football. As a youth he was active in AZ'67; together with Paul Nortan, Fred Patrick and Sigi Lens he made in Alkmaar De Zwarte young brigade, the "black brigade " of players of Surinamese descent. The professional career of the defender started in 1984 when Telstar second division, 95 games for which he made in three and a half seasons, where he scored eight goals. For the season 1994/95 he went to France to Caen, but was unable to establish itself in Division 1. After just one year he moved, after the descent of Caen, back to the Eerste Divisie for FC Eindhoven. Here he became a regular player in his second season and received an offer of MVV, in which he made his " second spring " experienced at the age of 33 years. In three years he made to the descent of Maastricht 90 more games with nine goals in the Eredivisie. Jerry de Jong was 20 years old and just turned pro, as his son Nigel was born. He left his wife and son when he just joined the football academy of Ajax Amsterdam; Nigel's mother raised her son alone, the two were on welfare.
