Jharsuguda district
Jharsuguda (also Jharsugura or Jharsugra ) is a district in the Indian state of Odisha. In the district live 509 716 inhabitants. Seat of the district administration is the city. The area is 2081 km ². The district was split off from Sambalpur district on 1 January 1994.
Geography
Jharsuguda is in the northwest of the state of Odisha and is located between the districts of Sundargarh and Sambalpur. About the Hirakud reservoir adjacent to the Jharsuguda district Bargarh. Temperatures range from a minimum of 12 ° C in December and up to 46.7 ° C in May. The annual rainfall is about 1527 mm, with most rain from June to October is brought by the southwest monsoon. In the southwest of the district lies the Hirakud reservoir. The main rivers are the Ib and the Bheden. Demography

Economy
Jharsuguda is the most industrialized district in Odisha, which is due to the rich coal deposits that can be mined by open pit. Also, clay, quartzite and sandstone are mined. Consequently, the production of cement and steel industries in the district of great importance. Agriculture provides mainly rice, pulses, vegetables and oil crops.
