Sambalpur district

Sambalpur is a district in the Indian state of Odisha. In the district live 935 613 inhabitants. Seat of the district administration is the city. The area is 6702 km ². The district was established with the founding of the state of Odisha. On 1 April 1993 the district Bargarh were and on 1 January 1994 removed the districts of Jharsuguda and Debagarh.

Geography

The district lies to the west of the state of Odisha, bordering districts of Sundargarh, Debagarh, Angul, Sonepur, Bargarh and Jharsuguda.
