Bargarh district

Bargarh (also Baragarh ) is a district in the Indian state of Odisha. In the district live 1,346,336 inhabitants. Seat of the district administration is the city. The area is 5837 km ². The district was separated from the district of Sambalpur on 1 April 1993.

Geography

The district Bargarh is located in the west of the state of Odisha, bordering the state of Chhattisgarh as well as the districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sonpur, Balangir and Nuapara. In the district with two high hills, the Baragahar Hills lie to the north and the Gandhamardhan Hills to the south on the border of Balangir district. Temperatures range from a minimum of 10 ° C in December and up to 46 ° C in May. The annual rainfall is about 1527 mm. The two main rivers are the Ong and Jeera, each of which opens into the Mahanadi. In the north- east of the district is the Hirakud reservoir.

Demography

According to the census of 2001 shows that 50.6 % of the inhabitants of the district of men and 49.4 % women. 77,41 % of men can read and write, but only 50.26 % of women can read and write total 63.99 % of the population. Economy
