Jim Sheridan
Jim Sheridan ( born February 6, 1949 in Dublin) is an Irish film producer, director and screenwriter. Among his best known films include In the Name of the Father, My Left Foot.
Career
Jim Sheridan studied in Dublin literature and philosophy. He was the founder of a theater company and joined this also myself as a performer on. From 1976 to 1980 he was hired as Artistic Director at the Project Arts Centre. In 1981 he emigrated with his family across Canada illegally into the United States. In New York City he was in the years 1982 to 1987 director of the New York Irish Arts Centre. At this time, several of his plays were performed at various theaters. In the Name of the Father is Sheridan's third feature film in 1993. The main characters are Daniel Day Lewis and Emma Thompson are to be seen. The processed Northern Ireland Conflict brought the film a Golden Bear at the Berlinale in 1994, eight Oscar nominations and the Italian David di Donatello.

In 2002, Sheridan made news again when he led In America Director in the film. The script for this film he co-wrote with his daughters Naomi and Kirsten Sheridan. In America was nominated three times for an Academy Award ( Best Supporting Actor, Best Actress and Best Screenplay ).
