Jinchang District

Jinchang (金阊区) was a municipality in the east of the People 's Republic of China. He belonged to the administrative territory of the prefecture-level city of Suzhou in Jiangsu Province. He had an area of 35.7 km ² and had 370,000 inhabitants ( 2004). He was the seat of city government and the city center of Suzhou. In August 2012, he was merged with two other districts of Suzhou to a new city district Gusu (姑苏 区).
