Joachim Milberg

Joachim Milberg ( born April 10, 1943 in Verl, Westphalia ) is a German engineer and manager.

Milberg was a professor at the Technical University of Munich and member of the board of BMW AG. After the departure of Bernd Pischetsrieder due to the Rover debacle was Joachim Milberg Chairman of the Board 1999.

He was virtually unknown at that time the general public and many critics do not trust him to the office and solve the problems. Joachim Milberg ended the engagement at Rover and BMW introduced back on track. Since 2004 he has been Chairman of the Supervisory Board of BMW AG.

Joachim Milberg was also from 2003 to 2009 President of acatech - German Academy of Science and Engineering.

Since 2010 he has been associated with the plans of the Bavarian State Government to pass the America House Munich acatech. He is said to have this idea Prime Minister Horst Seehofer pleaded and threatened with the departure of acatech from Munich to Berlin. The decision of the State Government has met the public for widespread, vehement criticism.

Biography

Milberg grew up in Senne city, now a district of Bielefeld, on a farm on. Besides the classic farmed his parents, a coal and timber trade. 1953-1959 attended the Milberg Junior High School, 1959 and 1962 was followed by an apprenticeship as a machinist at the Gildemeister AG, not far from his home court. 1962 to 1965 he studied production engineering at the National Engineering School of Bielefeld. 1966 to 1969 was followed by a degree in production engineering from the Technical University of Berlin as a scholar of the Foundation of the German people. 1970 to 1972 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Machine Tools and Production Engineering of the Technical University of Berlin ( Günter Spur ). 1971 was followed by the doctorate in engineering ( Dr. -Ing. ) With the work Analytical and experimental studies on the stability limit in turning. In 1972 he returned as Chief Executive to guild master. From 1978 to 1981 he was there Business Unit Manager Automatic Lathes. 1981 he was appointed Professor of Machine Tools and Industrial Management at the Technical University of Munich ( Institute for Machine Tools and Industrial Management ). In 1986 he founded the Prof. Dr. -Ing. Joachim Milberg Institute for Manufacturing Engineering GmbH ( ifp consulting) since he is a partner just there. 1991 to 1993 he was Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Technical University of Munich. 1993 different Milberg from the Chair and was until 1999 a member of the Board (responsible for production ) of BMW AG, Munich. 1999 to 2002 he was Chief Executive Officer of BMW AG. Since 2004 he has been Chairman of the Supervisory Board of BMW AG. Since 2007 he is member of the Supervisory Board of SAP AG, Walldorf. Since July 2010, Milberg has worked as Honorary Professor at the University of Duisburg -Essen.
