Joan Segarra

Joan Segarra Iracheta (* November 15, 1927 in Barcelona, † 3 September 2008 in Taradell ) was a Spanish football player.

He was the captain of the legendary Five Cup Barça, one of the best teams in the history of Barcelona. The great captain, as he is called by the Barcelona fans, won with FC Barcelona in the period 1950-1964 four league titles, five Spanish Cups and two times the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup. The crowning achievement of his career, however, was denied him: in the final of the European Champions' Cup in 1961 had Segarra due to an eye injury suit; Barcelona eventually lost 2:3 against Benfica. In total he played 402 appearances for Barcelona, which he denied the seventh- most in the club's history.

For Spain, he played from 1951 to 1962 25 international matches and participated with the team at the 1962 World Cup, where they already disappointingly eliminated in the first round as a group last.
