João Campos

João José Pontes Campos ( born September 22, 1958 in Albufeira ) is a Portuguese former middle and long distance runners.

About 1500 m he reached at the Olympic Games in 1980, the semifinals and failed at the World Athletics Championships 1983 in Helsinki in the flow.

In 1984, he came at the World Cross Country Championships in East Rutherford at No. 26 and won with the Portuguese team bronze. At the Olympic Games in Los Angeles, he retired about 5000 m from the semi-finals.

In 1985 he won at the IAAF World Indoor Games in Paris about 3000 m. In the Indoor Athletics Championships, he won over the same distance in 1986 in Madrid bronze and was created in 1989 in The Hague sixth.

Five times he was Portuguese champion in the 1500 m ( 1975, 1980, 1982, 1984, 1985) and one each over 800 m ( 1980) and 10,000 m ( 1989). He was national indoor champion over 3,000 m in 1989.
