João Salaviza

João Manso Salaviza Feldman da Silva (born 19 February 1984 in Lisbon ) is a Portuguese actor and film director.

Career

He studied film at the ESTC - Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema in Lisbon, but his degree at the Universidad del Cine in Buenos Aires. His first short film Two People ( orig.: Duas Pessoa ) 2004 won a prize at the short film festival Curtas Vila do Conde.

His short film arena, he won the Palme d'Or ( short film ) of the Cannes Film Festival, and the Jury Prize at the Lisbon IndieLisboa Film Festival for Best Short Film. Salaviza could draw attention to the possibilities of the short film with the price in Portugal, and sat down on one of the format. So also his next film with Hotel Müller 2010 was a short film, a tribute to the dancer died in 2009, and ballet director Pina Bausch. It was premiered in Lisbon Teatro São Luiz, in the place where Pina Bausch last 2008 their famous choreography danced Café Müller. Previously Salaviza had the doyen Manoel de Oliveira assisitiert peculiarities of a young blonde at the cut of his film.

After he turned, among other spots for the European election campaign of the Bloco de Esquerda, he won his next short film Rafa the Golden Bear at the Berlinale in 2012.

As an actor he has appeared in several minor roles, including film Querença his father José Edgar Feldman, but also in international productions. However, his main focus is on directing.
