Joaquín del Olmo

Joaquín Alberto del Olmo Blanco ( born April 20, 1969 in Tampico, Tamaulipas ), also known by the nickname El Jaibo ( cancer ), is a former Mexican football player who acted mainly in the midfield and is currently in use as a football coach.

Association

Joaquín del Olmo began his professional career in the 1988/89 season with his hometown club Tampico - Madero FC, ​​for whom he played until 1990. Even after his move he stayed another four years on the Gulf of Mexico and played until 1994 in the south of Tampico port city of Veracruz in rows of Tiburones Rojos. He then moved to the capital club Club América, for whom he played until the winter break of the 1996/97 season. The second half of the same season he spent in the Netherlands, where he stood at Vitesse Arnhem under contract. There he brought it but only on seven missions and a hit, so he returned before the 1997/98 season to Mexico, where he was initially at Club Necaxa and then at the Tigres de la UANL under contract. The most successful period of his active career he had at his last station, the Pumas de la UNAM, with whom he won both championships in 2004: first for the season 2003/ 04 belonging Apertura 2004 and then for the season 2004/ 05 belonging Clausura 2004.

National

His debut in the dress of the Mexican national team celebrated Del Olmo on 29 June 1993 in a friendly match against Costa Rica, which was won 2-0.

His first international goal he succeeded on October 13, 1993 against the USA (1-1). Two more international goals get him on 29 May 1996 against Japan (2-3 ) and on April 13, 1997 compared Jamaica ( 6-0 ).

His last international match was Del Olmo in a discharged on 16 June 2001 World Cup qualifier, which was lost to Costa Rica (1-2).

Coach

El Jaibo del Olmo began his coaching career at the Correcaminos de la UAT, where he initially and later acted as an assistant coach as head coach. After a series of seven games without a win, he was released and signed a contract in May 2009 as head coach at the Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz. After a season in Veracruz, he received a contract with the Xoloitzcuintles de Tijuana, with whom he immediately won the Apertura 2010 for the 2010/11 season.
