Jochen Alexander Freydank

Jochen Alexander Freydank ( born September 15, 1967 in East Berlin ) is a German film director. Since 1999, he has realized several films, including the Oscar-winning film Toyland.

Life

Freydank began in the early 1990s as an editor and assistant director for various television and film productions. After he was rejected five times as a student of film schools in Berlin and Potsdam, Freydank founded in 1999 with the film Mephisto his own film production company.

His first Short was the macabre Comedy Happy Ending, price took the Freydank among others at the Film Festival Max Ophüls in the competition. Followed in 2001 and 2002, the Emergency Short Satire service. The film had its world premiere at the Montreal World Film Festival. After two years of preparatory work Freydank realized the short film Toyland, who won over 30 international awards. In February 2009, Toyland was awarded the Academy Award for Best Short Film.

Freydank wrote screenplays for the crime series Police 110 and the serial Dr. Sommerfeld - Neues vom Bülowbogen, Medicopter 117 - Every life counts and Klinikum Berlin Mitte - life on standby. From 2007 to mid-2009 Freydank was as a producer for the children's series last Saturday! the Bavarian Radio and the ARD series operates in all friendship.

Freydank has directed commercials and corporate films, produced plays, the comedy Johnny Chicago with Kurt Kroemer at the Berlin Volksbühne, realized crime scenes for ARD and 2011, the winner of the Bavarian Television Award for Best Director tragicomedy And off you go for satellite 1

Currently Freydank working on the film adaptation of the Kafka story The Burrow. Shooting starts this movie was the 28th January 2013.

Jochen Alexander Freydank is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
