Joe Duplantier

Joseph "Joe" Duplantier (born 19 October 1976) is a French musician from Bayonne. He is the guitarist and vocalist of the band Gojira and was a bassist of Cavalera Conspiracy.

Music

Joe Duplantiers influences include bands like Meshuggah, Metallica, Morbid Angel and Sepultura.

He also played from 1999 to 2004 in a band called Empalot.

Max Cavalera and Igor Cavalera originally asked Jean -Michel Labadie, bassist of Gojira, to fill the position of bassist for Cavalera Conspiracy. Since Labadie but not promised, Duplantier occupied this post. Joe Duplantier made ​​it clear that Gojira was his main project, which he could barely walk with Cavalera Conspiracy on tour. In 2008, Duplantier was replaced by Johny Chow. Duplantier was no longer on the second album, Blunt Force Trauma.

Joe Duplantier was with his brother Mario Duplantier been involved in two projects: Gojira, and Empalot.

Many songs from Gojira reflect Duplantiers personal beliefs concerning environmental conservation resist. He is a member of conservation organization Sea Shepherd.
