Joe Hyams

Joe Hyams ( born June 6, 1923 in Cambridge (Massachusetts ), † November 8, 2008 in Denver, Colorado ) was an American journalist and writer.

Career

Hyams was a war correspondent during World War II, later column writer for the New York Herald Tribune in Hollywood, as well as author of several non-fiction books, numerous screenplays and two novels.

He wrote about various Hollywood stars like Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall, and author of a James Dean biography. He also wrote about Zen and martial arts. Hyams was, among other Kenpo Karate student of Ed Parker and trained in Jeet Kune Do Bruce Lee.

Joe Hyams married 1964, the German actress Elke Sommer, from whom he was divorced in 1981 childless.
