John Aloysius Morgan

John Aloysius Morgan ( born October 9, 1909 in Melbourne, Australia, † 21 May, 2008 Canberra, Australia) was a Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Canberra and military Bishop of Australia.

Life

John Aloysius Morgan was ordained priest on 15 July 1934 in Melbourne by Archbishop Daniel Mannix. In 1969 he became Pope Paul VI. appointed Titular Bishop of Membressa and appointed auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Canberra. He received his episcopal consecration on 28 April 1969, the Archbishop of Sydney, Cardinal Norman Thomas Gilroy; Co-consecrators were Thomas Vincent Cahill, Archbishop of Canberra, and Matthew Beovich, Archbishop of Adelaide. In the same year he was also appointed as Military Bishop of the Military Ordinariate Australia.

His resignation was accepted in 1985 by John Paul II. John Aloysius Morgan died on 21 May 2008 at the age of 98 years.
