John Edwards (musician)

Victor John "Rhino" Edwards ( born May 9, 1953 in Chiswick, London Borough of Hounslow ) is an English musician. Since 1986 he has been the bassist for the group status quo.

Music

During his school years, he played 1972/1973 bass guitar in the group The Sunday tape and moved in 1975 to the group Rococo. In 1976, he then joined with The spam on tape and 1977 and in 1978 with the group space. In the following years he played as a session musician with several notable artists, including Peter Green ( ex- Fleetwood Mac), the Climax Blues Band and Kevin Rowland's Dexys Midnight Runners.

In the companion volume of Judie Tzuke to which at that time included the future status Quo drummer Jeff Rich was included, it was at the beginning of the 1980 regular member.

In 1986, he joined the status quo, for which he now for over 25 years playing the bass. Until some years ago, he joined in parallel with other musician friends to, initially under the name " Four Bills and a Ben", and later as Rhino 's Revenge. Both bands consisted of Edwards with fellow musicians. Since around 2005, its activities relocated outside of the status quo on the group Woodedz, in which he plays with his two sons.

While in the early years had more the character of a guest musician with the status quo, he impressed for some time the musical style of the band with more and wrote several pieces for the band. The bass is his main instrument, but he plays (solo and with the status quo ) and occasionally guitar. He has also learned to play the violin at a young age.

Private life

The Bludgeon (the stick ), as he is called by his friends, lives with his wife Kathy and their three children Mae, Freddie and Max London. His nickname "Rhino" ( Rhino ) applies equally to his pronounced nose and his clumsiness. If he is with Status Quo on tour, he looks most like sights on. On the homepage of the status quo, he regularly reports about his experiences on tour.
