John Godina

John Carl Godina ( born May 31, 1972 in Fort Sill, Oklahoma ) is a former American shot putter and discus thrower.

Sporting successes

Godina was in 1995 in Gothenburg world champion in the shot put. He repeated in 1997 in Athens and 2001 in Edmonton this success. At the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996, he won the silver medal at the Games in Sydney in 2000 the bronze medal.

Godina played beyond time and again competitions in discus throw at a high international level. He participated in the 2000 Olympic Games and 2004. At the World Cup in 1997 in Athens, he finished in fifth place with 65.40 meters.

His bests in the shot put dating from 2005 with 22,20 m (outdoor ), situated in Carson, and 21.83 m (Hall ), situated in Boston. Its situated in Salinas 1998 best distance in the discus throw is 69.91 meters.

Godina 1998 reached the world's best performances in one day in the shot put ( 21.78 meters ) and discus throw ( 66.47 ). It exceeded 85 times the 21 -meter mark. In 2009, he finished his career.
