John I, Duke of Mecklenburg-Stargard

John I, Duke of Mecklenburg [- Stargard ] (* 1326, † zw August 9, 1392 and February 9, 1393 ) was from 1344 to 1352 and Duke of Mecklenburg 1352-1392 Duke of Mecklenburg [- Stargard ].

Family

He was probably the youngest child of the second marriage of Prince Henry II of Mecklenburg and Anna of Saxe- Wittenberg, daughter of Duke Albrecht II of Saxe -Wittenberg.

Life

John I was probably born in 1326 and stood in the first years under guardianship. After entering the age of majority in 1344, he participated in the government and began to lead a seal. On July 8, 1348 he was commissioned by Charles IV with his brother Albert II in Prague, the duke. With his brother, the same Charles IV, he initially supported the wrong Woldemar, but reconciled in 1350 with the Margrave Ludwig. He supported his nephew Albrecht III. in enforcing its claims as a Swedish king.

He married three times. His first wife Rixa ( of unknown origin ) probably died soon after the wedding and the marriage remained childless. His second wife Anna was a daughter of Count Adolf VII of Pinneberg and looking castle. With her he had one child, Anna. She probably died in the year 1358th His third wife Agnes was the daughter of Ulrich II of Lindow -Ruppin and widow of Nicholas IV Men Werle. He married probably in 1358 and had five children with her.
