John McIntire

John Herrick McIntire (* June 27, 1907 in Spokane, Washington; † January 30, 1991 in Pasadena, California ) was an American actor.

Life

McIntire grew up among cowboys in the state of Montana. A graduate of the University of Southern California began his acting career in radio and the theater. His film career began in 1947, where he mostly played in well over 100 films supporting roles in crime films and westerns. John McIntire played mainly sheriffs, police chiefs and judges. From the late fifties, he starred in several very successful American television series big lead roles. He was married from 1935 until his death with the actress Jeanette Nolan, who played under the direction of Orson Welles Lady Macbeth in Welles' legendary film adaptation of Macbeth in 1948. At the age McIntire and Nolan lent her voice for animated films like The Rescuers and Fox and the Hound.

McIntire and Nolan had two children. Son Tim McIntire was also an actor. John McIntire died age of 83 from lung cancer.
