John Seymour, 19th Duke of Somerset

John Michael Edward Seymour, 19th Duke of Somerset DL FRICS ( born December 30, 1952 in Bath) called 1954-1984 Lord Seymour, Duke of Somerset and landlords in Wiltshire and Devon.

Life and work

Lord Somerset, the son of Percy Seymour, 18th Duke of Somerset and Jane Thomas. He went into Hawtreys and at Eton College to school, and he inherited the dukedom in 1984, when his father died. He was from 1984 to 1999 Member of the House of Lords, ie he lost his seat by the House of Lords Act 1999. He then ran on May 10, 2011 for a seat as a Cross Bencher in the House of Lords but was defeated by Lord Lytton.

In 1993 he became Deputy Lieutenant for Wiltshire and 2003 for Devon.

His residence is Bradley House in Maiden Bradley in Wiltshire.

Family

He married on May 20, 1978 Judith Rose Hull, a daughter of John Hull Folliett in the All Saints' Church ), Maiden Bradley, Wiltshire. The couple has four children:
