John Thomas Steinbock

John Thomas Steinbock (* July 16, 1937 in Los Angeles, † December 5, 2010 in Fresno, USA) was Roman Catholic Bishop of Fresno.

Life

John Steinbock was ordained in Los Angeles by Archbishop James Francis McIntyre on 1 May 1963 priest. After various tasks in the care of souls in Los Angeles, he was appointed to the Cathedral of St. Vibiana of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.

May 29, 1984, Pope John Paul II Capricorn titular bishop of Midila and Auxiliary Bishop of Orange. On 14 July 1984 he received by Timothy Cardinal Manning consecrated bishop; Co-consecrators were the bishops William Robert Johnson of Orange and Manuel Duran Moreno of Tucson.

January 27, 1987 Capricorn was appointed bishop of Santa Rosa and introduced into the office on 31 March of that year. On October 15, 1991, he was appointed bishop of Fresno. The inauguration took place on 24 November of the same year.

After he was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2010 in the summer, Bishop Steinbock died on December 5, 2010 at St. Agnes Hospital of his episcopal city.
