Jon Carin

Jon Carin ( born October 21, 1964 in New York ) is an American musician, songwriter and music producer. Carin is best known for co-operation with the British rock band Pink Floyd, as well as their guitarist David Gilmour, as a soloist and a founding member of the band Roger Waters, during his solo career.

Life

Jon Carin started his music career in the early eighties, as the lead singer, keyboardist and guitarist for the band Industry. The breakthrough for the band in 1983 with the single " State of the Nation " in the United States, Great Britain and New Zealand. After the band broke up in 1984, Carin was asked by his former producer Rhett Davies, if he wanted to be involved in the production of the album " Boys and Girls" by Bryan Ferry. On the album Carin was used as a keyboard player. In July, 1985, Carin joined forces with Bryan Ferry at the Live Aid concert in London, where he met David Gilmour. In 1987, he played keyboards on the album " Midnight to Midnight " by the band Psychedelic Furs, such as in 1990 on the album " Elizium " of the band Fields of the Nephilim.

Collaboration with Pink Floyd

This year, the collaboration with Pink Floyd began. Carin worked on the first Pink Floyd album A Momentary Lapse of Reason, after Roger Waters left the band as keyboardist and songwriter. He co-wrote the song " Learning to Fly ", this was released as the first single from the album. In 1988, Carin along with Pink Floyd A Momentary Lapse of the Reason tour, on the double live album Delicate Sound of Thunder was taken. In 1992 we took together on the soundtrack for La Carrera Panamericana. For the album The Division Bell, which was recorded in 1993, Carin played keyboards and synthesizers. On the next The Division Bell Tour the double - live album Pulse was created.

Cooperation with "The Who"

Officially, without using the name The Who, Quadrophenia was performed live in Hyde Park and with numerous guests in the summer of 1996, with Jon Carin. They opted for an extensive tour of the USA and the following year through Europe. It was played in addition to the complete album Quadrophenia few greatest hits. Ringo Starr on drums was son Zak Starkey and on second guitar Pete Townshend's brother Simon. In August 1998, Carin played keyboards and drums, on a benefit concert for the Maryville Academy, along with Pete Townshend. The resulting CD, which he also produced, was published in 1999.

End of 1999 to today

In the summer of 1999 - to early 2000, Carin was with the founding member of Pink Floyd's Roger Waters on his " In the Flesh " tour. He is one of the few musicians who appeared with Pink Floyd and Roger Waters after leaving together.

On 20 October 2001 Carin played with The Who at the " Concert for New York City," a benefit concert for the victims and survivors of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. In January 2002, the CD and a DVD of the concert was released.

In July 2005, Carin was with Pink Floyd on stage at the Live 8 concert in London. The special feature of this appearance, there was the comeback from Roger Waters of Pink Floyd. This Pink Floyd played for the first time since 1981 back in the original cast.

2006 Carin went with David Gilmour on tour to promote Gilmour's album On to Iceland. In June of the same year, he was with Roger Waters on his The Dark Side of the Moon tour. This was from June 2006 to June 2008. Currently he is touring again with Roger Waters, this time on his The Wall Tour 2010-2013.

Jon Carin played for charity concerts by Amnesty International and Greenpeace (including with Seal, Elvis Costello, The Chieftains and Spinal Tap ).
