Jonathan Hedström

Jonathan Hedstrom (* December 27, 1977 in Skellefteå ) is a Swedish professional ice hockey player. His cousin Fredrik Warg is also a professional hockey player.

Career

Jonathan Hedstrom began his career as a hockey player in the junior department of the Boliden FFI. From there he moved to Skellefteå AIK, for the first team, he was active in the then still second-class Division 1 1995-1999. During this period, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in the ninth round in 1997 when a total of 221 ​​players from the Toronto Maple Leafs. First, he remained in his native Sweden, where he played from 1999 to 2002 for the Luleå HF in the Elitserien. The Toronto Maple Leafs had given him on 25 June 2000 exchange for a sixth and seventh rounds of suffrage for the NHL Entry Draft in 2000 to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. For this he gave in the 2002/03 season his debut in the National Hockey League, where he stayed dot and impunity in four games. He spent the rest of the season at Anaheim's farm team, the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks, in the American Hockey League. In the AHL he scored 14 goals in 50 games and made 21 templates.

From 2003 to 2005 Hedstrom was ever a year in the Elitserien participants Djurgårdens IF and IK Timrå under contract, in which he took a leading role in each case. He then became the 2005/06 season again committed by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, where he achieved his breakthrough in the NHL at the second attempt. For Californians, he played a total of 82 games in which he scored 13 goals and had 15 assists. In the summer of 2006, the links Sagittarius returned to Timrå IK, where he was an assistant captain for the next two years. The 2008/09 season he joined Timrå in the Elitserien, before he moved out of the Kontinental Hockey League founded again after only eleven matches played for HK CSKA Moscow. For the Russian capital club, he completed until end of season 39 games in which he scored one goal and eight assists. In the 2009/10 season the former national player was again at Luleå HF in the Elitserien on the ice.

For the 2010/11 season signed a contract with the Finnish club Hedstrom Kärpät Oulu. For this he first ran on in the preseason in the European Trophy, and then in the SM- liiga. In December 2010 he returned to Sweden, where he was obliged by the third division Asplöven HC. For the 2011/12 season he returned to his former club Timrå IK back in the Elitserien.

At the beginning of the 2012/13 season he was at Piteå HC under contract.

Internationally

For Sweden Hedstrom took part in the World Championships in 2004, 2005 and 2007. In the 2004 World Cup, he won the silver medal with his team. In addition, he was between 1999 and 2007 in numerous friendlies for his country on the ice.
