Jorge González Camarena

Jorge González Camarena (born 24 March 1908 in Guadalajara, † 24 May 1980, Mexico City) was a Mexican painter and sculptor.

Biography

González was 1918 Mexico City, where he studied from 1922 at the Academia de San Carlos Art. It dealt mainly with first painting and mural painting and joined the "Second Generation of the Mexican School of Painting " to.

In 1970 he was awarded the National Mexican Art Prize. González was a member of several artistic organizations. He was since 1972 a member of the Academia de Artes, was a member of the Seminario de Cultura Mexicana and the Mexican Commission for the Protection of the wall paintings of the INBAL and was president of the Asociación Mexicana de Artes Plásticas ( AMAPAC ).
