José María López

José María López ( born April 26, 1983 in Río Tercero ) is an Argentine racing driver. 2008 and 2009, he came Argentine touring car champion.

Career

2001 López began his formula racing career in Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup. In his first season he reached the 17th place in the overall standings. A year later, the Argentines went again in this formula and finished fourth. In addition, López began in the Italian Formula Renault, where he was in his inaugural season at first champion. In 2003, López in the Formula Renault V6 Eurocup, where he was starting for DAMS champion. In 2010 he was already a regular driver at the newly registered team U.S. F1 in Formula 1 under contract. After weeks of speculation about the failure of U.S. motorsport project López broke his contract finally on again.
