Joseph Francis Maguire

Joseph Francis Maguire ( born September 4, 1919 in Boston, United States) is a retired bishop of Springfield.

Life

Joseph Francis Maguire received on June 29, 1945 ordination for the Archdiocese of Boston.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him on 1 December 1971 for the Auxiliary Bishop of Boston and Titular Bishop of Mactaris. The Archbishop of Boston, Humberto Sousa Medeiros, donated to him on February 2, 1972, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were the Boston auxiliary bishops Jeremiah Francis Minihan and Thomas Joseph Riley. In support of Christopher Joseph Weldon was appointed on 13 April 1976 Coadjutor Bishop of Springfield. The Pope appointed him on October 15, 1977 Bishop of Springfield.

On December 27, 1991 Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation age-related.
