Joseph McCabe

Joseph Martin McCabe ( born November 12, 1867 in Macclesfield, Cheshire, † January 10, 1955 ) was initially priest and later a well-known British writer and free thinker who stood up for atheism.

In 1890, Joseph McCabe was ordained a priest. Through the experience in his office increasingly disillusioned and he finally turned away. In 1896 he finished his priesthood. Soon after, began his literary career in which he criticized Catholicism with swift spring. He wrote a considerable number of books. At the end of his life, he joined the National Secular Society.
