Joseph Mutua

Joseph Mwengi Mutua ( born December 10, 1978 in Machakos, Eastern ) is a Kenyan middle distance runner who specializes in the 800 - meter track.

Career

The Junior World Champion from 1996 retired at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney in the flow. In 2002 he won at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester and achieved the silver medal on August 16 in Zurich with 1:43,33 min his personal best. In 2004 he presented on January 31 in Stuttgart with 1:44,71 min the current African record over 800 m in the hall, was sixth at the World Indoor Championships in Budapest, reaching at the Olympic Games in Athens in the semifinals.

On August 24, 2006, he presented with William Yiampoy, Ismael Kipngetich Kombich and Wilfred Bungei in Brussels the current world record in the 4 x 800 - meter relay on ( 7:02,43 min).
