Joseph Vandor

József Vándor SDB ( born October 29, 1909 in Dorog, Hungary, † October 8, 1979 in Santa Clara, Cuba) - also known as José Vándor, born József exchange - was a Hungarian religious priest and missionary in Cuba.

Life

The son of Sebestyen Wech and Mária Puchner went to school at Franciscan. 1927/28, he went to the Salesians of Don Bosco. On 13 August 1932 he made ​​his final vows as a Salesian and studied philosophy and theology in Turin. He changed in May 1936 surnames in Vándor (Hungarian, hikers '). On 5 July 1936, he was ordained in the Basilica of Mary Help of a priest.

In the same year he went as a missionary to Cuba. First, he was until 1940 in Guanabacoa headmaster and chaplain, he was rector of the Agricultural School in Moca in the Dominican Republic. Because of his charisma, he was appointed master of novices.

In 1946, he joined as an administrator at the College of Arts and Trades in Camagüey. From 1954 until his death he lived in Santa Clara. He should supervise the construction of the local school of arts and crafts and was following their opening and first rector. He remained so until 1961, when all schools were nationalized in Cuba.
