Joshua Clottey (born 6 October 1977 in Accra ) is a Ghanaian professional boxer. He was IBF welterweight champion.

Life

Clottey won his first 20 fights in the welterweight division 14 by knockout. On 29 November 1999, he fought at the Wembley Arena in London against the Argentine professional boxer Carlos Baldomir for the WBC International welterweight title and lost by disqualification due to repeated head impact.

Clottey later won the African Boxing Union welterweight title. On American soil, he won several welterweight and middleweight titles, including the IBF Intercontinental title. On December 2, 2006 Clottey boxed for the world title of the World Boxing Organization against Antonio Margarito, but broke his hand in the fourth round. On 7 April 2007 he won by unanimous judges decision on points over Diego Corrales. Clottey won over Zab Judah on August 2, 2008, at the IBF title.

Clottey lives in the Bronx, New York. He is the brother of former boxer Judas Clottey and Emmanuel Clottey.
