Jotham of Judah

Jotham (Hebrew יותם ) was king of Judah. His reign is to the years 742-735 BC ( Albright ) or 740-732 BC dated.

Jotham was the son of King Azariah ( Uzziah ) and Jerusha, daughter of Zadok. Azariah was the Old Testament report, punished because of a temple with violence with leprosy, Jotham was used as Regent, the Azariah succeeded after his death as king. 2 Kgs 15.32-38 EU and 27 EU 2 Chr report of his government. Then Jotham built the high gate of the temple in Jerusalem and arranged work on the wall of Ophel. Also reports of fighting with the Syrians under Rezin and Pekah of Israel. In addition, he had defeated the Amorites, who had then to deliver Judah a tribute of 100 talents of silver and 100,000 bushels each of wheat and barley. Jotham was succeeded by Ahaz.

Jotham was a contemporary of the prophets Isaiah, Hosea and Micah.
