Jõuga is a village (Estonian küla ) in the rural community Iisaku ( Iisaku vald ). It is located in Ida -Viru county (East Wierland ) in northeastern Estonia.

Description and History

The village has 53 inhabitants (as of October 16, 2010 ). It was first mentioned in documents in 1426. The name is wotischen origin.

The place is known for its numerous lakes in untouched nature. The four largest are the Pesujärv (two hectares ) with its sandy shore, the Linajärv ( 1.1 hectares), the Liivjärv ( 2.2 hectares ) and the Armise järv (4.4 hectares).

Cave cemetery

In the area of the village is the largest cave cemetery in Estonia. The approximately 300 caves were from 11 to 15th century the Votes of burying their dead. There were also numerous cavers art and jewelery.
