Juan Francisco Ordóñez

Juan Francisco Ordóñez ( born October 4, 1961) is a guitarist from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He is considered a reviver of the language of the bachata guitar, a blend of blues, rock and jazz with a special style.

Life

Ordonez made ​​his college degree at the Colegio Dominicano De La Salle and later his degree in economics from the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo. At the age of eleven, he got the first time guitar lessons with Prof. Blas Carrasco, later he taught himself more at. He also took lessons in composition with Sonia de Piña, on Dominican National Conservatory.

In the years 1976-1977 Ordóñez was part of the folk group " Convite ", which was a very important force in the rescue and restructuring of Dominican folklore in the 1970s.

In the early 1980s he founded together with Luis Días the rock group transports Urbano, whose lead guitarist he was almost 25 years. In 1985, Ordóñez traveled to Moscow in the old Soviet Union, where he had several concerts with Patricia Pereira and Luís Dias. During this time Ordóñez also started a few other projects, such as the influential guitar / bass / drums trio with drummer Guy OFS Frómeta and the former bassist of transport Urbano, Héctor Santana.
