Barcelona still had won the Cup semi-final first leg against Real Madrid 3-0, but lost the return match with 1:11. This defeat was very controversial: supposedly Franco in the half-time break some of his men sent into the cabin of Barcelona, which threatened the Barcelona players with death, they should not lose the game. The FC Barcelona, as a representative of Catalonia, Franco was a thorn in the eye, because Barcelona was one of the few places at this time, where Catalan is spoken yet, since Franco Castilian Spanish declared the only official language.
