Jukkasjärvi

Jukkasjärvi is a locality ( tätort ) in the northern Swedish province of Norrbotten County and the historic province of Lapland.

The place is located in the municipality of Kiruna at 321 meters above sea level, approximately 200 km north of the Arctic Circle.

In the 17th century Jukkasjärvi was first settled permanently. First, long lived only a pastor and a bell ringer with their families in the village, but moved towards the end of the 18th century Sweden Meänkieli speaking there.

Most famous tourist attraction is the first ice hotel in the world.
