Playing career

Julen Lopetegui played as a junior for Real Sociedad, where he made ​​it to the B- team of the club. In 1985 he undertook for Real Madrid in the Segunda División playing second team Castilla. In three seasons, he brought it to 61 inserts and reached in the 1987/88 season under coach Vicente del Bosque took third place in the second division.

Coaching career
