Jürgen Gelsdorf

Jürgen Gelsdorf ( born January 19, 1953 in Duisburg ) is a former football player in the Bundesliga Bayer 04 Leverkusen, football coach and today's official.

Sports career

Player

For the 1972/73 season was the 19 -year-old junior footballers Jürgen Gelsdorf from MSV Duisburg to Arminia Bielefeld in the Regionalliga West. On the " Alm " had to be rebuilt from the Bundesliga following the relegation 1971/72. They sat on talents such as Hans -Jürgen Wloka (Borussia Mönchengladbach ) and Bernd Wehmeyer (own amateurs) and therefore also gave the defensive talent Gelsdorf a contract. Coach

Seamlessly proceeded the change from player to coach page. From 1 July 1986 Gelsdorf full-time youth coach at Bayer 04 was at 1 July 1988, he joined as an assistant coach on the side of the new head coach Rinus Michels. On April 13, 1989, he was the successor of Michels and stood in the responsibility as head coach until 31 May 1991. Spite of the additions of Jorginho ( Flamengo ), Martin Kree ( VfL Bochum ), Sven Demandt (Fortuna Dusseldorf ), Andreas Thom (Dynamo Berlin), Franco Foda ( 1.FC Kaiserslautern) and Ulf Kirsten (Dynamo Dresden) failed Bayer but the leap to the top spot in the Bundesliga. That was the main reason for his dismissal on 31 May 1991.

In the following years he worked at various clubs in the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga and in the Regional Football. From 3 October 1991 to 6 November 1992 he stood at Borussia Mönchengladbach under contract. With the Gladbach he reached the final of the DFB-Pokal in 1992 against the second division club Hannover 96, but which has been lost with 3:4 on penalties. Then he moved for two years to VfL Bochum from 1995 to 1997, he coached the SC Fortuna Köln. At the beginning of the season 1997/98 hired Gelsdorf at the KFC Uerdingen 05, where he was dismissed in September 1998 after one and a half years. In November of the same year he was hired as coach of VfL Osnabrück - the end of the 2002/03 season he left the club, then at his own request. His last position was as a professional coach from 2003 to 2005 Rot-Weiss Essen.

Current

On October 1, 2005, Jürgen Gelsdorf was appointed as successor by Ralf Minge head of the youth training center of Bayer 04 Leverkusen. This he has returned to his trainer beginnings. On 8 May 2007, the General Assembly elected him to head the football section of the club. Gelsdorf was the successor of the late Kurt Vossen.

Private

Gelsdorf is the father of two children.
